# How can I use the AI Assistant to edit or ask questions about the bid?

## Understanding when to use Ask vs. Edit in Beam’s AI Assistant.

**Edit** is used when you want the AI to actively change your estimate. This includes things like adding or removing groups, adjusting scope of work, or modifying verbiage across line items.

**Ask** is for understanding the estimate (or the plans if uploaded). Use it to question assumptions the AI made, such as where pricing came from or how quantities or square footage were calculated.

Based on the text you input, the AI will interpret this as either an ask or an edit.
