How do I use the Beam card to earn cash back and automatically track expenses?

What's the Beam card?

Beam's charge card allows you a safe and easy way to make purchases in person and online, while you can automatically capture receipts and tie expenses back to projects on the go. There are no annual fees and you can earn 1% cash back.

How can I categorize my Beam card expenses?

Categorizing your expenses is easy and fast with the Beam card:

1. Once a transaction occurs, the cardholder will receive an automatic text message

2. In that message, click on the link to visit Beam's mobile website

3. There, you can assign the recent expense to a project and accounting code. You can also upload a photo of the receipt from your phone

4. Any uncategorized expenses still appear in the Expenses tab on Beam and can be easily classified at a later date

    How can I apply for the Beam card?

    Within 20 minutes, you can apply for the Beam card without a credit check or personal guarantees. First, click on the Expenses cards tab on the left-hand side. Select "Start Application  ->" Add your personal and business information. Add your bank account to auto-pay your monthly balance and confirm your phone number by adding in the 6 digit code you receive via SMS. Once you've been approved, you can add cardholder details, settings, and shipping information to receive your physical card.

    How long does it take to get a credit limit?

    Once you have been approved for the card, our card partner, CapitalOS, assesses the last few months of your transaction history to determine your credit limit. This usually takes 1-2 business days. If they need additional information, we will reach out to you. 

    Once your credit limit is approved, your virtual card is ready to use!

    How long does it take for the physical card to arrive?

    5-7 business days

    What controls on card spend are available?

    The account owner can establish a card limit to restrict the amount of daily, weekly, or monthly spend that can be made on a specific employee's card. The account owner can also freeze or cancel a specific card. 

     

    How can I increase my credit limit?

    If you'd like to increase your initial credit limit, you can reach out to our support team. Based on your financial history and account balance(s), our partner will determine whether an increase is possible at this time or will likely be possible in the future.

    You can also elect to pay off your balance during the month at any time in the Expense Cards page. In that case, your credit will be freed up in ~3 business days for additional purchases.

    How do I pay off my card?

    On the 25th of the month, your account will be automatically debited for the outstanding balance. A few days prior to this, you will receive a text message at the phone number you entered during onboarding. 

    What if the 25th of the month falls on a weekend?

    CapitalOS still initiates the payment on the 25th automatically but it would only be reflected (hit customer account) on the first business day thereafter (i.e. Monday)

    Can I use multiple accounts to repay my card?

    Yes, you can add multiple repayment accounts.

    How does the card sync with QuickBooks Online?

    All Beam card expenses are automatically synced under a single chart of accounts account in QBO called Beam Card. Details about which card was used will be synced in the expense as a memo.
